In April 2024, Hotshot launced a "GenAI Fundamentals for Lawyers" Certificate. This certificate program gives lawyers an understanding of generative AI and large language models, covering key AI concepts and terms, the impact of GenAI on the legal industry and practical applications for lawyers. It also looks at the risks, limitations, and ethical concerns associated with LLMs, letting legal professionals better understand the opportunities and considerations involved in using GenAI in their practice.

In November 2024, Hotshot announced the launch of its M&A simulation, giving law firms the tools needed to run their own experiential M&A training programs for associates. The new offering addresses the growing demand from law firms in interactive, learning-by-doing training programs they can run themselves, ensuring a practical, firm-specific approach.

The simulation reduces the time and resource burdens that typically come with designing these programs from scratch and includes:

  • A hypothetical company and transaction
  • Assignments for junior and midlevel associates
  • Deal documents and diligence materials
  • Simulated Zoom kickoff calls where the associates are given the assignments
  • Detailed planning guides to run a successful program
  • Discussion prompts for partners so they can add their insights, share war stories, and teach their firm’s unique way of doing things

“When I first saw Hotshot I thought OK, this is potentially going to be a little bit corny, but I was really blown away by how much if felt authentic—it felt like an attorney sitting there helping you do something, helping you review a document. Students have had the same reaction.”

“It’s really an amazing set of instructional materials. Thank you!”

“Hotshot videos are brief—perfect for people with a lot going on. The seven-minute program on motions to dismiss is interesting and makes all the right points. We do not have to create that foundational material from scratch…we found that if we used the Hotshot materials we could customize it for our firm in no time at all.”
