Contract Matrix can be used to drive material efficiency and increased risk management in the contract negotiation process, augmenting lawyers and freeing them from process, so that they can focus only on the areas that require their expertise. 

This tool sits within Microsoft Word and has four core functionalities: 

Benches. You can upload its templates and transaction precedents to the platform to ground any review and negotiation of a contract in good precedent. You can establish multiple benches, for example, to cover different contract types to ensure correct precedent is being used to negotiate your documents. 

Concept Searches. You can search across all templates and transaction precedents in your Benches for any clause you have previously agreed. This flips your existing legal contracts into a fully searchable clause library. 

Open Gen-AI Queries. You can ask open queries of “tuned for law” generative AI models as applied to some or all of the contract. You can also ask the AI models to draft or redraft clauses of contracts as an alternative to leveraging your Benches of transaction precedents or templates. 

Analyze. By combining market leading generative AI with A&O Shearman expertise the tool can automatically review entire contracts against your negotiation playbooks and produce a Red/Amber/Green issues list for the user to work through, together with suggested markups to bring the document in compliance with your acceptable negotiation parameters.
